Crescent 45 (Archimede Volvo Penta ) help required

Rekommendera Poster

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum and also to boating and outboards, so I hope being here will help me to get up to speed with the basics.
I just bought a second hand Crescent 45 outboard 3 cylinders. Through some internet research I have done, I believe these engines are also known as Archimende Volvo Penta.
It's got good good compression on all 3 cylinders. I have checked this with a compression tester.
However, it doesn't seem to have any sparks on the spark plugs.
I have tried to change the one of the plug, moving it between the coil leads, but still nothing.

I have then tested the 3 spark plugs with a spark plug tester and they all have spark.

I have checked the ignition coil primary and secondary windings and they seem to be fine, primary reads 2.6 ohms and secondary 8.7 K ohms on all 3 coils.

I have also checked the wires that go from each ignition coil to the connections pack, and they are fine, as they have good continuity (0.1 ohms of resistance).
I presume there is something wrong with the stator / trigger or with the points ignition.
See photos of the engine attached.
Can someone help me to understand what do I need to do to understand if there is an issue with the stator / trigger?
Does anybody have a service manual that could help me to troubleshoot the issues?
Many thanks in advance.
Jack

Hi

Check all wires for breakage, short to ground or open circuit.

Clean all wire connectors with fine stainless/brass wire brush or wet sandpaper 400/600 (but dry) one at the time..

Reconnect wires and tighten screws.

Use Permatex Dielectric Grease (or equivalent) to seal and prevent corrosion, on all connections when fully tightened. Do NOT use CRC 5-56 or WD40 on electric/ignition components.

Clean breaker points with fine wet sandpaper (but dry) or a contact file if there is a crater/top on the points. if you use sandpaper, clamp sandpaper between points fully closed and pull sandpaper in one direction, repeat until points are clean and free of corrosion.

Set point to 0.45 mm (.017").

Install flywheel and tighten nut to correct torque.

Disconnect all black wires to stop switch.

Remove spark plugs, and discard old spark plugs.

Buy new ones, should be NGK B7HS or equivalent.

Check spark with a new spark plug to in contact with good ground.

If you have spark at this point, reconnect wires to stop switch and check spark again.

If you need new parts, try:
