Need to lift the motor out of the water?

Rekommendera Poster

Often see parked boats with motor located in water.

In my area it is customary to lift the motor out of the water every time to protect it from corrosion.

Do you lift the motor every time you don't use the boat? If you don't lift, why?

The engine is only protected from corrosion if its fully out of the water or tilted down to the point that the anode on the cavitation plate is submerged. Alot of installations leave a bit of the engine in the water and in that case, its better to keep it in the water.

I think alot of people raise their engines to avoid sea weed and barnacles.
