Driving a car with a boat in the center of Stockholm

I have a desire to go on the route Helsinki-Stockholm-Grislehamn by car with boat. The length of the boat with a trolley - 7 meters. In Stockholm arrive at the terminal Silja Line or Viking line. Are there any restrictions for driving car with boat the center of Stockholm?

The length of the trailer is not a problem.

 

You must have the correct driver's license for the weight of the car plus trailer and boat.

 

If you have a driver's license for a passenger car, the car plus trailer and cargo may not weigh more than 3500 kg. Aditonaly there are various combinations of weight on the car and trailer that must be met.

 

There are different rules if the trailer has brakes or not and whether the trailer has suspension or not.

It's easiest to drive from the Silja terminal to Grisslehamn as you don't have to drive through the city center.

 

An alternative route is to travel from Helsinki to Åland and take the car ferry from Eckrö to Grisslehamn.

If you take "Norra länken" to E4 its no problem. There is signs to the ferry all the way from the E4 on the way back. I have driven there with a 25,25m truck many times, 4,5m high. So there are no special restrictions on that road. 

But in general, I think center of Stockholm has a limit of 12m in length. So be awere of that when you leave E4, its easy to end up somewhere you can't turn around easily. Also, measure the hight of the boat on trailer before you go, its nice to know! There's a million tunnels and bridges in Stockholm. But there are signs on every obstacle lower than 4,5m.

The normal routine for truckers is to leave the trailer outside of the road tolls, except for E4 and Norra länken to the harbor.
