The Grand Banks 42 Europa is a stunning, handsome boat with ideal proportions. The current model was redesigned to take advantage of the extra width and length of the updated 42 hull mold. Most striking is the spacious saloon that opens directly to a protected cockpit area. With the sliding doors open, the main living area naturally expands to the outside world. Here, under the protective roof, is the perfect place for you favorite wicker or yacht furniture. The roof also extends over the side decks to provide additional protection from the sun or rain, making the Europa especially attractive for the tropics or where the weather is often wet and damp.
Down below, the standard Europa offers two private staterooms and large head with a separate stall shower. An alternative two room stateroom and two head layout is available. The luxurious owners room is forward and features either a double size island bed or twin V berths. A large opening hatch ensures excellent ventilation, especially when at anchor. A guest stateroom can be ordered with either a double berth or two single berths, and it is complete with a hanging locker featuring a louvered door.
Outside, the protective roof provides an expansive area adjacent to the flybridge and is the perfect place to store a dinghy. Access to the bridge is easy thanks to the wide fiberglass molded stairway which also provides stowage space beneath it.
A special feature of the Europa is its large lazarette storage. Its so spacious, some ownershave had washer/dryer combinations installed, as well as an extra freezer, a diving compressor, or other cruising equipment. Engine access through the lazarette keeps the luxurious main saloon free of oil and grease.
The GB42 Europa is a particularly handsome boat that truly expands its luxurious indoor accommodations to the outside world.
Time Proven Hull The basic hull design of the GB42 has not changed since its introduction in 1965. However in 1991 a new mold was created that increases the beam and width slightly. This updated version offers a longer waterline and increased beam for improved performance and more spacious accomodations. The semidisplacement design is very efficiently driven at its hull speed of 9 knots, but is capable of cruising at 17 knots with larger engines. Its deep forefoot reduces pounding in rough seas, and the flat chines aft increase intial stability and reduce roll in a beam sea. Her full keel protects running gear and provides superior directional stability at all speeds.
