The Farr 63 is the largest in the range and the size of this boat means the facilities offered on board reflect all the comforts of home. The Farr 63 is intended for cruising, performance cruising to be correct. Her size does not impede her handling and she is capable of exhilarating performance.
Rig
With the basic specifications being the same as the Farr 60, as standard, the Farr 63 is fitted with a fully automated sail handling system. The hydraulic In-mast furling rig from Selden, together with the hydraulic furling headsail system, hydraulic furling staysail and four powered winches give you complete push button control from the safety of the cockpit. The furling staysail is ideal when the wind rises above 25knots. It enables you to sail the yacht in comfort with reduced sail but without loss of speed, ideal when cruising short handed. There is a Navtec manual hydraulic package fitted that controls the vang, babystay and backstay from the cockpit.
There are many options for rig packages including a standard, more conventional mast with a fully battened main and lazy jacks, carbon rig for those who want that extra bit of performance or the new generation of In boom furling systems. The full detailed technical specification with drawings and plans is available on request. The full detailed technical specification with drawings and plans are available on request.
Deck
The screw less teak laid deck with teak capping fixed on the top of the cockpit coaming and the bulwark immediately give the impression of quality. When you look at the deck layout on the Farr 60 you can see this as been designed with practicality in mind. There is a large anchor locker forward which easily holds the 80m of chain that is standard with the boat in addition to the warps and fenders which are stowed there. The workshop/sail locker area is immediately aft allowing easy launching of the MPS, the only sail that you have to go on deck to set.
Moving aft there are some differences over the Farr 60. The cockpit, again with its fixed table, is longer by about 30cm. This allows more room for living in when in the warmer climes and much time is spent in the cockpit. This is the control centre of the yacht with the winch controls, furling controls, bow thruster, etc. all being conveniently placed on the steering pedestal. The winches surround the cockpit coaming and are all positioned so that they can be easily used from either inside or outside the cockpit.
On the aft deck there are two watertight Rondal hatches providing easy access to the large lazarette. The transom has a hydraulically opening door that also gives access to the lazarette and forms a bathing platform when open.
Interior
The standard specification for the Farr 63 offers three double cabins, all with en-suite facilities and one twin with a day head. The wide beam aft gives the owners cabin more space than in found in most aft cabins of boats 70feet and larger. The ample galley is sensibly located adjacent to the main companionway, giving easy access from the saloon and the cockpit.
The forward workshop can be accessed via the port guest cabin or directly from deck. Behind the workshop are the two double en-suite guest cabins with generous storage space for personal items. Two steps up from the forward passage lead to the pilot house. The floor level is designed to give excellent panoramic view while seated at the large dining table. The navigation area is located on the port side and has ample space on the chart table. The separate galley leads off to the aft and can include such facilities as dish-washer, fridge/freezer, waste compactor as well as vast storage space for provisions. The galley is sensibly located adjacent to the main companionway, giving easy access from the saloon and the cockpit.
The en-suite master cabin located aft, contains a king-size bed, lounger, vanity or writing desk and large, varied, storage space. The cabin is fitted with a stereo CD player and can include TV and video if required.
We have other interior designs available and most customers requirements can be accommodated.
