Designed in 1995 and the premiere design in the Farr Pilot House Range, the Farr 60 turned many heads when launched at the Southampton Boat Show in the same year.
She is the epitome of what a modern cruising yacht should be:
The wide beam carried a long way aft allows such expanse below that you will only find on most yachts of 70 feet or over. This enables the interior to give total comfort even during the most arduous passages.
With all the sail systems controlled from the safety of the cockpit she is as easy to sail with just a couple on board as she is when fully crewed and partaking in a regatta in one of the more desirable yachting locations around the world.
The ability to cover good distances in virtually all weather conditions enables owners to explore the worlds oceans at will.
Rig
As standard, the Farr 60 is fitted with a fully automated sail handling system. The hydraulic In-mast furling rig from Selden, together with the hydraulic furling headsail system, hydraulic furling staysail and four powered winches give you complete push button control from the safety of the cockpit. The furling staysail is ideal when the wind rises above 25knots. It enables you to sail the yacht in comfort with reduced sail but without loss of speed, ideal when cruising short handed. There is a Navtec manual hydraulic package fitted that controls the vang, babystay and backstay from the cockpit.
There are many options for rig packages including a standard, more conventional mast with a fully battened main and lazy jacks, carbon rig for those who want that extra bit of performance or the new generation of In boom furling systems. The full detailed technical specification with drawings and plans is available on request.
Deck
The screw less teak laid deck with teak capping fixed on the top of the cockpit coaming and the bulwark immediately give the impression of quality. When you look at the deck layout on the Farr 60 you can see this as been designed with practicality in mind. There is a large anchor locker forward which easily holds the 80m of chain that is standard with the boat in addition to the warps and fenders which are stowed there. The workshop/sail locker area is immediately aft allowing easy launching of the MPS, the only sail that you have to go on deck to set. Moving aft the cockpit, with its fixed table, is the control centre of the yacht. The winch controls, furling controls, bow thruster, etc are all conveniently placed on the steering pedestal. The winches surround the cockpit coaming and are all positioned so that they can be easily used from either inside or outside the cockpit. In the aft deck there are located two watertight Rondal hatches providing easy access to the large lazarette. Outboard of these are two lockers, one for the gas bottles and one dedicated for a liferaft.
Interior
The standard specification for the Farr 60 offers three double cabins, all with en-suite facilities and one twin with a day head. The Pilot House Saloon with nav station allows a good visibility from inside and protection whilst sailing in inclement weather.
She encompasses high quality with an outstanding finish, combined with the need for practicality and durability. Even those planning the longest of passages should encounter no difficulties with stowage space in the Farr 60. Every cabin has a hanging locker and drawer space. There are a myriad of under bunk and sofa lockers and the ample workshop offers storage for tools, spares and sails.
Both the engine room and separate machinery room are easily accessed and carefully soundproofed. The powerful Yanmar engine benefits from installation with an Aquadrive flexible coupling providing smooth and quiet running. The forward workshop is well laid out and offers a stable work bench for repairs, generous area for sail handling and pipecot accommodation for crew.
We have other interior designs available and most customers requirements can be accommodated.
